Dissertations and theses

The Haddon Library has a selection of physical and digital dissertations and theses which are available for consulation by current University of Cambridge members only. Further information how to request from these collections can be found in the relevant sections below.

Requesting digital dissertations

You can access undergraduate and some graduate student dissertations in submitted across the Departments of Archaeology and Social Anthropology via the Haddon Library. 

You must be a current member of the University to access dissertations. When you find a dissertation that you'd like to read, please request it by emailing us at haddon@lib.cam.ac.uk. 

Please ensure you include the full title of the dissertation(s) you wish to consult to help us locate the correct one(s) for you. 

All requests for online access to dissertations will be granted for seven calendar days, so use your reading time wisely. Please limit your requests to no more than five titles at a time. If you require access past this time, you will need to submit a new request.

Requesting print dissertations

Print dissertations are for use in the library only and cannot be borrowed. Please email us in advance to request these and we will fetch them for you from one of our closed storage areas so they are ready for you to consult when you visit us. 

Doctoral theses (PhD)

Recently completed Cambridge PhD theses are available via Apollo, the University Repository (unless under embargo). 

You can also search for the full text of PhD theses across the UK using the British Library's EThOS service or browse the Proquest Dissertations and Theses database for research across 700 academic institutions worldwide.

You can request theses from other institutions via the University Library's Inter-Library Loan service.
